When decision-makers keep forgetting the people

‘If on the way we have lost the hearts and minds of many Romanians, it is because the bureaucrats from both Bucharest and Brussels forgot how important public awareness and public education are. This mistake should not be repeated.’
Adrian Severin, Member of the European Parliament
on the question ‘Looking back now, how has joining the European Union changed Romania?’
from ‘Remembering the Romanian Revolution’ — interview in ‘Commission en direct’ #539, 11-17 December 2009

This goes for most political projects, and can thus be generalised into:
‘If on the way we have lost the hearts and minds of many individuals, it is because the bureaucrats and politicians forgot how important public awareness and public education are. This mistake should not be repeated.’
